Johannesburg - A public prosecutor working at the Ladysmith Magistrate's Court was arrested for corruption on Monday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The 37-year-old prosecutor, who worked in the traffic offences court, asked traffic offenders for bribes to have their names removed from the court roll, said Colonel Jay Naicker.

Three people went to the police after being approached by the prosecutor.

The prosecutor was charged with three counts of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.

He was expected to appear soon in the same court.
