Johannesburg - A man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a friend to death in Kagiso, near Krugersdorp, Gauteng police said on Saturday. Police had been looking for the man since December, said spokesman Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya.

"The suspect had visited the deceased's place in Kagiso 1 in December 2014, where they enjoyed drinks together. While drinking and enjoying music, an argument ensued over the type of music his friend was playing," said Sibiya.

The man left after another friend who was with them managed to calm them down.

"Later, their friend, who was a few meters away, heard the deceased screaming for help and calling his name. He noticed the suspect leaving the deceased's shack and [that he had] a sharp object in his hand."

He found the man lying on the floor and bleeding from stab wounds to the upper body. He died on arrival in hospital.

The alleged killer went into hiding after the murder.

He was arrested at his work place in Luipaardsvlei, Krugersdorp, on Saturday, Sibiya said.

He would appear in the Kagiso Magistrate's Court soon to face a charge of murder.
