Johannesburg - A man was arrested for attempted murder early on Monday after stabbing his ex-girlfriend in her home in Kagiso, south of Krugersdorp, Gauteng police said.

The man, 47, arrived at the woman's home around  on Sunday and she agreed to let him stay the night, said Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya.

"While the complainant was in her bedroom, she received a call from her husband's younger brother," he said.

Afterwards, the man became angry and accused her of having an affair.

Sibiya said it was not known whether the woman had continued her relationship with the man after she had got married.

The man took a kitchen knife and attacked the woman, stabbing her several times.

He ran away, but was later arrested and was expected to appear soon in the Kagiso Magistrate's Court.
