Kempton Park blast leaves 6 seriously hurt

2013-04-10 09:50

Johannesburg - An explosion at a factory in Spartan, Kempton Park, left at least six people injured on Wednesday, paramedics said.

Netcare 911’s Santi Steinman said when paramedics arrived at the factory they found six people with critical injuries.

“The Netcare1 helicopter was activated to airlift one of the critically injured people to a nearby Netcare facility,” said Steinman.

The other five critically injured people were transported to nearby facilities.

A man who works opposite the factory building told Eyewitness News that he saw an explosion and “when we went to the scene, it was just bad”.

“There was lots of smoke and the building had collapsed. People were burning,” the witness said.

It was unclear what caused the blast.

This is one of my biggest fear of running manufacturing company, without taking necessary precautions u will be back to squire one. Giving ur staff safety lessons now and then its important. we hope they will recover and people get their job back.
