Khulubuse owes R20k in fines

2012-05-21 10:30

Durban - Businessman Khulubuse Zuma owes the eThekwini metro police R28 950 in outstanding traffic fines, the Mercury reported on Monday.

Khulubuse is President Jacob Zuma's nephew and one of the directors of Aurora Empowerment Systems, the company which was removed as the preferred bidder to buy the insolvent Pamodzi gold mines.

According to the paper warrants for R10 000 have been issued to Zuma.

The traffic fines date back to January 2010 and are for alleged offences which include the absence of taxi rank permits, speeding, washing vehicles in the street, parking facing oncoming traffic, not having an operator card, disregarding traffic lights, and not having licence plates.

Three luxury cars and household goods belonging to Zuma were auctioned off last month to pay R10m owed to Protea Coin Security.

The security company was trying to recover the R10m owed by Aurora for services it provided at Pamodzi's Grootvlei mine in Springs, east of Johannesburg.

Aurora has been accused of destroying infrastructure at the mines and causing the loss of more than 5 300 jobs. Former president Nelson Mandela's grandson, Zondwa, is another Aurora director.

Trade union Solidarity brought an application to have Aurora liquidated as part of its claim for R3.1m in unpaid wages to workers at the two mines.

How the hell do you build up that much debt without anybody doing anything?

      Sematla - 2012-05-21 10:37

Why should I know about this, please tell him I have my own debts to worry about.

      Philip Buys - 2012-05-21 10:51

another mampara, deserving to get his profile painted.

      Bryan - 2012-05-21 10:51

Very easily by the look of things.., It's called family in high places!! If this were you or I we would have been locked up already.

      carpejugulim - 2012-05-21 11:15

and what is the bet he will plead poverty or take advantage of an amnesty period or sommer just have the fines scrapped. Wasn't there a plan sometime ago to have all unpaid traffic fines added to vehicle licences???

      anthro45 - 2012-05-21 11:31

Yes, why hasn't he been arrested yet?

      Yar - 2012-05-21 11:31

@Polyoudonkey Yes - really. Perhaps you can tell me why he hasn't been arrested for the outstanding fines. He is clearly a habitual criminal.

      marnusmnorval - 2012-05-21 11:36

They can arrest him.. hes gona be head of the mines soon

      koos.vandermerwe.92 - 2012-05-21 11:37

      marnalouw - 2012-05-21 12:22

The trick seems to be,to just put Zuma in your name. Drastic! But it seems to work. Just be prepared to have your genitals painted.

  • Gerhard - 2012-05-21 10:36

The wheel does eventually turn, it's only a matter of time.... And why does Madiba still keep so quiet? Surely, since his grandson is involved in this case, it is time for him to stand up and say anough is enough. Maybe he is the only voice of reason that people will still listen to?

      Barefoot - 2012-05-21 10:42

i don't think he can at his age

      Peter - 2012-05-21 10:43

Let him retire in peace. He ran his race and cannot be held responsible for the acts of the ANC's new breed.

      Simphiwe - 2012-05-21 12:29

Please Gerhard! Keep Madiba out of this madness. This is about khulubuse zuma for his personal fines. Madiba is very old now. He played his part. Pirates of Polokwane coference hijacked this country

      Jacqui - 2012-05-21 13:03

Gerhard, Madiba is an old man. Why should he speak about the falling apart of his dream for South Africa?. It is bad enough that it is happening in his life time. Besides I am sure the family keep things away from him.

      Rob - 2012-05-21 18:40

Leave MADIBA out of this. He has done so much good for this country he does not need to involved in 'trivialities' such as this.

  • Pieter Mulder - 2012-05-21 10:36

      Denny - 2012-05-21 16:11

Ah, but in SA spear F's You!

      Rob - 2012-05-21 18:44

Peter. You sound like a 'arsehole'.. Why have you not paid your fines? Glad you are being persecuted. Do you also think you are above the Law? and if so why? 'F' the Law - dipsticks like you encourage people to break the Law. I hope at the next 'road block' you are physically arrested.....

  • malcolm.molver - 2012-05-21 10:44

      gregory.jurgens - 2012-05-21 11:08

Positive news doesn't sell papers. Can u see the headline Zuma washes car at Caltex car wash.

      Alan - 2012-05-21 12:41

Yep, and frankly we taxpayers are tired of paying for money to be wasted and stolen by the ANC, and also of having a president that we simply cannot respect. And before you pull out the race card chum, I respect Madiba, Bryan Habana, Tendai The Beast, Mvovo, Gugu Zulu, Tschops Sipuka, Reuel Khoza and a whole bunch more who are not paleskins.

      Lionel - 2012-05-21 12:48

It's callled Zuma INC - I'm guessing those dudes who recklessly nailed Mbeki are beginning to rue that day in Polokwane. They have set a marvelous precedent - I'm dreading who our next President will be.

  • kasamkelo - 2012-05-21 11:25

Well they from his Taxis and other cars, I do understand. But i still give my friend a title: the guy bought a GTI and in a year he had more than R20K of speeding tickets - now that one deserves a Bells.

  • Sylvia - 2012-05-21 11:33

If he wasn't a Zuma, he would have been in jail by now. Different rules apply to the elite. ;(

  • MefrouwPoefparra - 2012-05-21 11:36

  • thombela.isaac - 2012-05-21 11:54

Khulubuse Zuma will not pay these traffic fines until they are written in

  • Sakhiwo - 2012-05-21 11:55

  • Edward - 2012-05-21 11:55

They are serving summons, it's just they put them on his lap when he is sitting down and he hasn't seen any of them yet!

  • tricia.sutherland1 - 2012-05-21 12:10

... and those where just the offences he was caught for. a blatant disregard for the law and no care to the embarrassment he's caused his family. maybe his "Uncle" should have a serious chat with him about his role in society.

  • Linette Myburgh - 2012-05-21 12:20

It must have been on a down hill! Otherwise fatty's wagon couldn't have built up enough speed...

  • Andre - 2012-05-21 12:23

Why is he able to get away with this and we mere mortals cannot renew our vehicle licenses without first settling our fines? We are all equal, but some seem to be more equal than other!

  • Umshini - 2012-05-21 12:37

Typical, why would we expect anyone from the ZOOMA clan to be a law abiding person and be equal before the law as the rest of the citizens?

  • Musa Mahlangu - 2012-05-21 12:39

Obviously these are fines for business and personal cars which he owns. If I have a company with 10 company cars and I'm the accounting officer then fines will be issued in my name. However this does not make me liable for the fines. The drivers of the vehicles are. This is gutter journalism designed to create a story from nothing using the Zuma name.

      Lionel - 2012-05-21 12:51

He is liable unless he can prove who the driver was - so it begs the question as to why he has ignored them - all the summonses would have been sent to his address. If he wasn't the perp, then all he had to do was inform the metro guys accordingly - this man has no respect for anyone - not even himself.

      Kevin - 2012-05-21 12:51

Musa sorry to say that you are liable for any vehicles fines that are in your name. If you have 40 cars all in your name you are liable and it is up to you to get the relevant forms that need to be filled in prooving who was driving etc. If I was the accountant i would deduct the money's off the relevant drivers salary's and pay the fines. Old fat boy probably has deducted money from his staff and still not paid the fine, thats the thief we know.

      Rodney - 2012-05-21 12:54

Musa you still make sure that the offenders pay them otherwise your director will get rid of you, as you are in charge you will probably look after your name.

      UmshiniWami - 2012-05-21 12:59

Musa, If you own a company you are still liable for the fines and face the same fate for not paying them (arrest, impounding of property by the sheriff) if your employees erred you may or may not recover the costs from them, but you still have to pay. as for your attempt to defend FATBOY ZOOMA, PLEASE!! does anyone need more corroboration that he is a corrupt tenderpreneur and a thief who has no respect for his fellow people (most of those that suffer as result of his shenannigans are black) or for the law and he gets away with it because of his uncle?? you are only fooling yourself, open your eyes and see how Zoomer, his clan and hte rest of his ANC cronnies are screwing the SA citizens (yes, that includes you and your friends)

  • Kevin - 2012-05-21 12:47

Dont worry fat boy, your uncle is president of this banana republic so there will be no consiquences. You can do what you want, take what you want because you a freedom fighter. Absolute disgrace.

  • Bokfan - 2012-05-21 12:49

  • Jacqui - 2012-05-21 13:00

Another member of the infamous clan helping to ruin the country. How did he get away with it for so long?.

  • Lisle - 2012-05-21 13:05

so why don't they arrest her and lock her up like they would the rest of us ???

      UmshiniWami - 2012-05-21 14:03

Lisle, he may look like a FAT MOMMA, but Fat Boy is a he...

      Rob - 2012-05-21 18:48

  • Bambanani - 2012-05-21 13:32

why should we know about this, everybody have his own traffic fines debt. - 2012-05-21 15:39

Not paying fines is criminal, wouldnt you want to know whos corrupt? When you vote do you choose the best person for the job that carries the interest of his country to heart OR do you vote coz hell hes black and thats cool

  • Harry - 2012-05-21 13:45

Obviously - Black people don't pay fines or taxes. That's just for the stupid whitey's

  • - 2012-05-21 14:40

i was arrested for a R300 traffic fine. this man owes thousands and nobody is running after him?! wow!!! - 2012-05-21 15:36

Thats bcoz YOU arent JZs hey

  • Musa Mahlangu - 2012-05-21 15:48

@tshepo. The fines are for his taxi drivers, workers etc. Not his directly. The article is misleading.

  • Musa Mahlangu - 2012-05-21 15:53

@Lionel.@Kevin. I have 3 cars and have had this issue before. All I had to show was that it was not me driving. Otherwise im liable for my wife ( her relatives and/or friends she may give to drive etc) even when I'm overseas?

  • Antin - 2012-05-21 16:33

Problem with arresting KhulObEse for unpaid fines is that without his cooperation -or a forklift they never get his ass in jail. "You want to arreest me? I lay down on dee floor. How you get meeh in dee van now?"

  • Rob - 2012-05-21 18:37

Why not 'arrest' him and throw his useless 'arse' in jail. If this was you or me, we would have been incarcereted a long time ago. But if your name is ZUMA you can get away with 'murder'... This arrogant 'prick' who believes he is above the law will continue to 'flaunt' the Law. METRO Cops/SAPS, when and if you can leave KFC, go and arrest this 'pleb'... DO YOUR JOB.....
