Bloemfontein - Water supply problems in Kimberley will be resolved by Tuesday night, the Sol Plaatje municipality said.

Spokesperson Sello Matsie said all residents, businesses and schools were informed there would be no further water shut-downs at night from Tuesday evening.

The Newton reservoir system was now at a satisfactory level.

"The capacity of the four dams at the reservoir was at 263 million litres," he said.

Matsie said water was pumped at a velocity of 1 200l per second from the Riverton purification works into the Newton reservoir.

The municipality thanked residents for their co-operation with the nightly water shut-downs the past two weeks.
