Cape Town - Allegations have surfaced that a key investigator in the Radovan Krejcir case is being probed for perjury - a move that could result in a collapse of the State's case against the Czech crime boss.

According to the Sunday Independent, police say that allegations against Colonel Nkosana "Killer" Ximba, a top crime intelligence officer, are simply attempts by Krejcir's people to discredit officers involved in the investigation.

But according to the newspaper, when applying for his job, Ximba allegedly told police management that he had never been convicted of any crime. However, Ximba allegedly has a record for reckless and negligent driving - an offence committed in 1999. A case of perjury was registered with police last year.

Krejcir is facing charges of kidnapping, attempted murder and assault. He was arrested last month. His latest bail application appearance was denied and he remains behind bars.
