Johannesburg - The State has been granted a postponement in the sentencing of Radovan Krejcir and his five co-accused, who were convicted of attempted murder, kidnapping and drug dealing.

The State asked for a postponement in the High Court in Johannesburg on Monday morning.

Three days were set aside for sentencing proceedings. The matter was postponed to October 28 and November 17 and 19.

Krejcir and his five co-accused appeared in court amid a heavy police presence.

This was the second time sentencing has been postponed. Last month, Krejcir's lawyer, Annelene van den Heever, was absent after sustaining a knee injury.

Krejcir, Desai Luphondo, Warrant Officers Samuel Modise Maropeng, George Jeff Nthoroane, Jan Lefu Mofokeng and Siboniso Miya had all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Krejcir was accused of ordering the kidnap and torture of Bheki Lukhele, whose brother, Doctor, had allegedly disappeared with 25kg of tik. Doctor worked at a cargo company at OR Tambo International Airport.

According to previous testimony, Doctor disappeared with the tik he was supposed to send to Australia.

Krejcir, Luphondo, Maropeng, Mofokeng and Miya were also found guilty of the attempted murder of Lukhele. Nthoroane was found guilty only of common assault.

All six men were found guilty on the kidnapping charges.
