Johannesburg - Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir's mother allegedly deposited R600 000 into the account of a woman to help fund his bid to escape from prison, according to reports.

Eyewitness News reported that the 37-year-old woman that the account belonged to was arrested after she allegedly made several cash withdrawals from different bank branches.

The woman has reportedly appeared in court since then.

The Star reported on Monday that police confirmed the arrest and that the woman had told police the money had been deposited by Krejcir’s mother and she was meant to give it to him.

News24 previously reported that a 45-year-old woman accused of trying to smuggle a cellphone to Krejcir in prison was granted R3 000 bail in the Cullinan Magistrate's Court on October 27.

The Department of Correctional Services had previously foiled what it said was an elaborate escape plan by Krejcir, News24 reported earlier.

Among the items allegedly found in Krejcir's cell during that incident were a pistol, ammunition, a knife, an item that looked like a Taser, a pepper spray gun, steel blades, 10 cellphones, a memory stick and a diary containing the names of witnesses and investigators in his cases.

On August 24, News24 reported that Krejcir was convicted of attempted murder, kidnapping and dealing in drugs. The matter related to the kidnapping and torture of Bheki Lukhele, whose brother, Doctor, had allegedly disappeared with 25kg of tik.

His sentencing is expected to be commence on November 17.
