Johannesburg - A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with murder and fraud in Paulpietersburg, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.

Thulani Zulu had been on the run from the police since July, after he allegedly killed a 78-year-old woman, said police spokesperson Jay Naicker.

The woman's body was found in a forest in Paulpietersburg three weeks after she was reported missing, said Naicker.

Police believed she was kidnapped.

A total of R11 000 was withdrawn from her account in a mall near KwaMashu.

Zulu appeared briefly in the Paulpietersburg Magistrate's Court on Monday and the case was postponed to 25 September, said Naicker.
