Pietermaritzburg – A police document has revealed that President Jacob Zuma may have given instructions regarding security upgrades to his home in 2009.

The document was part of a file handed over to the Nkandla ad hoc committee on Tuesday by Minister of Police Nathi Nhleko at the KwaZulu-Natal Legislature in Pietermaritzburg.

The document dated 23 October 2009 states that by instruction of the State President, President Zuma, the existing houses at Nkandla currently accommodate Saps members, must be converted as part of the President’s homestead.

“To cater for the needs of the members currently accommodated in the houses as refer above, additional bachelor flats need to be added to the needs assessment previously provided to your department."
