Polokwane - A police constable was arrested after he allegedly shot dead his girlfriend and tried to commit suicide in Siyandhani village in Limpopo, police said on Saturday.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said the couple's neighbours heard gun shots, ran next door and found the 20-year-old woman dead in the house.

The 25-year-old constable was shot in the stomach and leg.

Ramatseba said the constable allegedly had "problems" with his girlfriend.

The officer was kept under police guard in hospital, Ramatseba said.

Sounds a bit strange to me.."allegedly shot dead his girlfriend and tried to commit suicide" by "shooting himself in the stomach and leg"...Maybe she tried attacked him first and to save himself he retaliated and shot her to save himself...!!
