2013-01-08 17:18

Johannesburg - A police constable has shot dead his girlfriend then killed himself in Onverwacht, Limpopo police said on Tuesday.

Their bodies were found in a rented room on Monday night, said police spokesperson Hangwani Mulaudzi.

"We believe that he shot himself after shooting his lover, because we found his service firearm next to his body," said Mulaudzi.

The motive for the killing was not known.

The 30-year-old constable worked at the Lephalale police station.

This is happening too often. An efficient employee assistance programme needs to be implemented immediately. I know the saps has one, but clearly not working. Once an officer shows signs of depression or it is known he is experiencing personal problems, especially if he shows signs of odd behavior, he must be anonymously subjected to the program. The fact that so many saps personnel have echoed these actions, deserves serious attention. Further, mandatory evaluations must be carried out by registered professionals on a six monthly basis and their commendations are to be taken seriously.

It appears that the most common occupation that is prone to commit murder lately is...COPS. in the last month alone there's been at least 6 cases where cops murdered people.

Kasper, in this country the cops are a danger to society. a vast number of them are inept, corrupt, criminal, uneducated and lazy.

If you want to be happy for the rest of your get an ugly girl to marry you. There wont be a need for shooting.

In the last year I've come across over twenty similar incidents. The only solution to this is not to allow the police to take their guns home and make it compulsory for police to undergo emotional Inteligence assessment.

When a cop shot his girlfriend and himself with a service pistol for reasons you don't know,u come and say I must be disarmed so that all those thugs I have arrested can come to my place of residence to seek revenge with no fear that I can defend myself,my family and my property?your solution is short sighted and impractical,it shows that u and the cop that killed his Gf and himslf don't know why we are issued with service pistol..that is to defend our lives, the next person's life and property of value when in danger.

i certainly dont think work related stress has anything to do with this.some of these policemen are simply cowards who just cant face their problems.what i do not understand is why is it so easy for them to pull the trigger?
