Durban - A man was shot and killed and another injured when armed men stormed their flat in Tzaneen, Limpopo, on Sunday.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said that the men, both foreign nationals, had been confronted by three men who had broken down their kitchen door.

“This morning at around 08:30 two foreign nationals were in a flat that they occupy when they were surprised by three suspects. One was armed with a pistol, another with a rifle and the third with a panga,” he said.

“They entered forcefully through the kitchen door and after entering they started shooting. A 28-year-old man was shot in the leg and a 26-year-old was shot in the stomach. The latter died at the scene.”

Ledwaba said that the gunmen fled the flat with an undisclosed amount of money. “The injured man is recovering in hospital. Anyone with information can contact Colonel James Espach on 082 451 7169.”
