Johannesburg - The former head of transport for Limpopo on Wednesday handed himself over for cases of murder and attempted murder, Limpopo police said.

"He handed himself over today following allegations that he was involved in a murder and attempted murder," said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi.

The man and two accomplices allegedly kidnapped three men in Sekororo near Tzaneen on Monday, who they accused of business robbery, he said.

The men were severely assaulted before being dropped off at a liquor store where a security guard found them.

One of the men had died and the other two were taken to Sekororo Hospital for treatment.

The three suspects were in custody and were expected to apply for bail in the Naphuno Magistrate's Court on Thursday.
