Why is the SABC on the list? Is propaganda really that important? More important than hospitals?

      Arthur A Lilford - 2015-01-23 07:18

Agreed - The hospitals should be on the lists but only the State hospitals theses are the ones that should supply medical needs in a crisis - well we in a crisis already but will just have to live with this one !!!!

      Buzz McBar - 2015-01-23 07:24

Conspicuous by their absence are all the SANDF bases.... In the 70's and 80's there was even an annual " national key points" shooting competition....

      matches - 2015-01-23 07:31

where is WaterKloof ....Simons Town... the military in general ... Waterkloof is not on the list .... does it mean the Gutpta gate is open or closed

      Jurgen Hartmann - 2015-01-23 08:39

Umhlanga North is included, naturally. One wonders if the tuck shop is a NKP.

      Andile Mali - 2015-01-23 11:32

...where is my house...?...this list is incomplete....

      Raymond Van Den Brink - 2015-01-23 13:55

It is normal practice to have a national broadcaster on the list. It is there to communicate with the nation in an event/crises.

  • Jeremy Tucker - 2015-01-23 07:14

Wow!!! And they fought tooth and nail to keep THIS secret!! Seriously? Only post 1994 Presidents have residences that are national key points, interesting bit of paranoia.

      Angela Salloway - 2015-01-23 07:39

I don't think any of presidents, past or present, private residences warrant being national key points. Is there a reason that anyone knows of?

      Edward Spainell - 2015-01-23 08:10

Huh. De Klerk's residence in Cape Town is on the list.

      Roger Pacey - 2015-01-23 18:17

It looks as though it's surviving presidents' residences that are on the list, Mandela's properties being expected to be removed in due course. In the USA, they also have high security for surviving past presidents.

  • Ngubane Melusi - 2015-01-23 07:14

    Ok

  • Errol Retief - 2015-01-23 07:15

    And so what?

  • Errol Retief - 2015-01-23 07:15

    And so what?

  • Jaco De Witt - 2015-01-23 07:17

I dont see Nkandla they said no pics can be taken because it is a NKP?

      Jaco De Witt - 2015-01-23 07:21

Ok found it under Pres residence in KZN

      b.agnostic - 2015-01-23 09:04

      Nope that is in Gauteng

      Ria Cook - 2015-01-23 09:05

Interesting that they don't call it "Nkandla" - obviously hoping most people will miss it. BUT seeing that this is supposed to be a PRIVATE residence, why is it on the list?

      b.agnostic - 2015-01-23 09:06

My bad searched the page for "Pres residence" but under KZN it is "Pres of SA Res"

      b.agnostic - 2015-01-23 09:13

I wonder how this is going to work. Former Pres NR Mandela Qunu Village is listed as a national key point (NKP) but he has passed away. Will Nkandla forever remain a NKP? If so we will probably never really know the extent of the corruption. Reminds me of that Epic Movie (Knarnia, silent K for legal purposes) where the guy shows his "crib" and the whole place is full of wide screen tv's (even in the toilet!). Wouldn't be surprised if Z et al. pees on a diamond encrusted LED screen at the expense of the taxpayer????

      Reality - 2015-01-23 10:28

      > Pres of SA Res What does the Res stand for? Reserve?

  • Dawid Venter - 2015-01-23 07:18

At ALL of these "key points" security is up to ANC standards. SO why the big hoo haa to realse the information? OH I forgot because people will see ANOTHER ruling party FAILURE. NO SECURITY! Whahahahahaha

  • Nicholas Wessels - 2015-01-23 07:19

Sorry but this is one time I think Right2Know made a big mistake. The world didn't need to see this list.

      NoAbsolutes - 2015-01-23 08:29

How can you prosecute someone for breaking the law iro national key points when no-one knows what is and isn't a national key point? And let's face it, anyone wanting to commit sabotage wouldn't need this list.

      Catherine Nair - 2015-01-23 10:12

Sorry, Lushaka how is the all the SABC buildings in the country part of a strategic installation? also they have not list any military bases so what's the big deal...

      Elton Laine - 2015-01-23 14:18

Anybody who want to invade us, already know this info. This is for us (the people) to know.

      Roger Pacey - 2015-01-23 18:11

The problem is that there are cases where officials lied about the status of some places to try to conceal information to which the public had legitimate access.

      Roger Pacey - 2015-01-23 18:19

I seem to recall that someone was in trouble, years ago, for photographing the Rissik Street Post Office on grounds that it was a national key point.

      Nikki Downes - 2015-01-23 18:59

Wondering if the TRUE list was released?

      Nikki Downes - 2015-01-23 19:00

      Makes sense. Thanks Roger

  • Zoltan Pepper - 2015-01-23 07:26

@Leonardb: KFC. Joke of the week. LMAO! Thanks.

  • Werner Roets - 2015-01-23 07:27

Nkandla is there, it's under Kwazulu Natal - Pres of SA Res - KZN

  • Edwin Black - 2015-01-23 07:30

I notice Waterkloof is not on this list.

      Nikki Downes - 2015-01-23 19:00

I agree. Something is up. It's not complete and I doubt it's the TRUE list

  • Nico Ferreira - 2015-01-23 07:31

Interesting that even the Vaaldam is a keypoint. When fishing there, no stops you when you take photos of sunsets but when a silo collapses at a powerstation due to ESKOM's negligence, no photos.............and another question, are these national key-points or national disaster areas proudly brought to us by the ANC !!??

      Chris van den Bergh - 2015-01-23 08:30

When will they build the FIREPOOL at the Vaal, you know, in case the Vaal catches fire?

      Nicholas Wessels - 2015-01-23 09:51

You guys can joke but it seems like there is very little common sense amongst the population here. I have as much disdain for the current government as anyone else, but have some intelligent thought when it comes to understanding why things are declared Keypoints. In times of civil unrest, war etc, these sites will be protected as their destruction would lead to the destruction of our economy and stability.

  • DrManhattan - 2015-01-23 07:33

OK, so you're not allowed to take a picture of Nkandla, it being a NKP and all, but you can take a picture of OR Tambo Airport or Koeberg or even Parliament for that matter.

      Ryno Senekal - 2015-01-23 07:38

      Very contradictory!

  • Ryno Senekal - 2015-01-23 07:36

Notice they dont specify, nkandla or the infamous airfield clever!

  • shiney.alexandergeorge - 2015-01-23 07:43

The Guptas can now show the finger to the nation!

  • arthur.salvado - 2015-01-23 07:44

Wonder why our military air base is NOT a NKP . Any guesses ?

      Jaco De Witt - 2015-01-23 08:06

All Military institutions is governed under another act. NKP is for civilian instalations that if destroyed can destabilise the country or government. Not sure why De klerks and Mandelas residences are still on.

      M.Sc Stratman - 2015-01-23 09:30

Well then Zuma's residences should be taken off the list as destroying those may actually stabilise this country somewhat...

      M.Sc Stratman - 2015-01-23 09:30

Well then Zuma's residences should be taken off the list as destroying those may actually stabilise this country somewhat...

  • Ria Cook - 2015-01-23 07:47

I don't see my residence on the list.

      Nikki Downes - 2015-01-23 19:02

Aw Ria. I don't think this is the completed list. Maybe in the next version it will appear?

  • Sino Msane - 2015-01-23 07:57

Now Boko Haram would know exactly where to start, not to mention bank robbers this gives them a idea of where money is manufactured.

      Trevor Martin - 2015-01-23 08:21

and you think they not already no this?

  • Robin Burgess - 2015-01-23 08:04

I have an idea lets go to court to get the government to release this list the every radical with a cause knows were to bomb next. This is an example of the short commings of a liberal unbalanced constitution.

  • Eric Martinsich - 2015-01-23 08:05

and now I wait for the opposition to question the list and come up with all kind of theories. mmm

      Smphiwe Mathonsi - 2015-01-23 16:14

      Hahahaha!

  • Sandra Brown - 2015-01-23 08:16

Vaal dam - really! The vaal dam wall? The water content of the vaal dam? Will all those thousands of people who take photos every day of the year please hand themselves in to the police in deneysville immediately. Oh, sorry, which police in deneysville? ???

  • Tung InCheek - 2015-01-23 08:24

I don't see Nkandla on the list for KZN. We were told in the new that it's a National key point, hence the R245 000 000 spent on upgrades ...WTF??

      Scouter Four-One - 2015-01-23 08:41

I think you need to re-read the list - perhaps more slowly this time?

      Jaco De Witt - 2015-01-23 08:44

It is under Pres residence KZN very general, this means all property in KZN owned by Zuma is a keypoint because he will argue he lives in all of them.

  • Chris van den Bergh - 2015-01-23 08:27

So does that mean I can now submit my quote to build the prescribed FIREPOOL at the SABC in Auckland Park?

  • Mern Denvan Fynn - 2015-01-23 08:32

Well done to the right to know. At least there will be no more cover ups. And for those that think it was a security risk publishing this....was it really. In South Africa we have more corruption than security threats.

  • Marcel De Graaf - 2015-01-23 08:35

List of National Key Points? More like a list of what there is to blow up for potential terrorists.

  • Tyronne Jardim - 2015-01-23 08:45

@Shafiek it is on the list as Pres res in KZN .....just helping out ......but now i understand why the army and military bases are not on the list ,they are seperate but would like to know why ANC officials said they were national key points when the guptas landed at one of them ...with all there illegal contraband and terrorists .....pity ....Zumas are a disease to this land .....

  • Tyronne Jardim - 2015-01-23 08:48

Well so Cape town airport is a national key point but it okay for the AnCyl to throw poo all over it and get away with it ...hahahhaha.....ANC sucks ,what a bunch of morons

  • Tshepo Mogale - 2015-01-23 09:08

making this public is a pointless and stupid exercise. Should it happen that were under attack you're basically giving the enemy all the strategic points to hit us. I'm all for transprency but this is stupid

  • rsleetcher - 2015-01-23 09:08

    I don't see Voortrekker Monument. !!!! Just a thought

      Nikki Downes - 2015-01-23 20:09

Try 'by all means' to stop the next thoughts you have. It's just fruitless

  • bennie.engelbrecht - 2015-01-23 09:19

    And Pelindaba?

      Jaco De Witt - 2015-01-23 09:25

      And all Tollgates

      Nikki Downes - 2015-01-23 19:03

      I wondered the same.

      Nikki Downes - 2015-01-23 20:14

Has Koeberg power station changed its name, or did I miss it somehow?

  • Megan Beirowski - 2015-01-23 09:38

Why is only Caope Towns airport on the list and no other airports mentioned - strange

      Smphiwe Mathonsi - 2015-01-23 16:13

OR Tambo is on da list

  • Stefan Vivier - 2015-01-23 10:19

These guys are sooo incompetent, and it is costing this beautiful country big time!

  • Anton Scheepers - 2015-01-23 10:27

I would imagine that all harbours would be on the list.........

  • Tyronne Jardim - 2015-01-23 10:34

@ Tshepo cause it gives us clarity on which places are key points and do you see any military bases and army bases on this list ...um no ....and few more question..what enemy are you talking about? ..are we at war ? And these keypoints are well ...duh ..it is available to public knowledge ....they did not disclose our defence keypoints .Thank yoh and stop watching T.V its rotting your brain with all your conspiracies .@Megan B ....all the major airports are on the list ...kust read properly ...thank you

  • Christopher Hart - 2015-01-23 11:02

Military bases should be on the list

  • Peter Eliot Johnson - 2015-01-23 11:47

    Dates of listing?

  • Clement Raymond Moropodi - 2015-01-23 12:41

Pres of SA Res - KZN. I think this should've been listed as Family of Pres of SA Res - KZN as Zuma maintained that Nkandla has been paid for by the Zuma family

  • Joe Wiper - 2015-01-23 14:59

SABC and post office, turn them off, nobody will miss them

  • Pogiso Mekgwe - 2015-01-25 21:12

Why is SABC on the list and not the Hospistals? What impact is it playing on our daily lives? Why others are still left out? especially where our countries security was compromised?
