Lotters guilty of parents' murders

2012-03-13 11:17

Durban - Brother and sister Hardus and Nicolette Lotter were convicted in the KwaZulu-Natal High Court on Tuesday of murdering their parents.

Mathew Naidoo, Nicolette's boyfriend at the time, who the siblings said was the mastermind behind the murder plot, was also found guilty.

Judge Shyan Gyanda, sitting with two assessors, found the siblings had been influenced by Naidoo, who told them he was the third son of God.

However, he said they still had the ability to differentiate between right and wrong.

Their parents Maria Magdalena Lotter, 52, and her husband Johannes Petrus "Johnny" Lotter, 53, were murdered in their Durban home on July 19 2008.

and the R2million value attached to the parents estate played absolutely no role in their decision to bump off their parents, I'm sure

  • Henning - 2012-03-13 11:55

Now they can continue their "mission" behind the walls of a maximum security prison...

      ReunionofIntelligentMinds - 2012-03-13 12:15

The use of the Bible was just a front. I think their mission ended abruptly before it even began.

      RapidRiver - 2012-03-14 09:50

@Boy George..... He rose to heaven after 40 days....Georgie The initial verses of Acts support that Jesus died on the cross, then rose from the dead before the ascension into heaven occurred on the 40th day after Jesus reported resurrection. Consider the verses in Acts that support this viewpoint.

  • Shirley - 2012-03-13 12:03

    Now hang the scum!

  • bluzulu - 2012-03-13 12:06

Supposedly Superior kids were sent down the road of ruin by a supposedly inferior son of god...sob sob sob...Hypocrates in the extreme. Damn drug addicts needed the cash to further their studies into drug usage, now all this religious rhetoric is utilized as a defence.

  • Karabo - 2012-03-13 12:25

Finally! Justice has been served! This verdict should have been given back in 2009 aready! Wish there could be such results for other murder court cases as well.May God be with their late parent's souls.

  • comurray - 2012-03-13 13:48

Let them all rot in hell for ever and ever. Absolute SCUM.

  • Cynthia - 2012-03-13 14:21

Their parents probably loved them unconditionally. How sad. Hope they never see the outside of a prison for many, many years. Matthew Naidoo is a total disgrace to the Indian nation. He certainly has got a great opinion of himself!

  • Emily - 2012-03-13 14:40

The love of money is the root of all evil. Some people kill rhinos for money, others kill their parents. Some get away with it, others don't.

      Fern Yates - 2012-03-13 15:03

@ Emily. Money the acquisition of it is not the root of all evil! Think for a minute. How can a material object be evil,on its own just like your toothbrush, bed etc it is harmless? It is the way humans choose or decide to use it or acquire it that creates the negative situations of fraud, murder and poaching.

  • Pauline - 2012-03-13 15:02

And justice is served once again. Beginning to love the judicial system in this country. Now for the death penalty to come back....

      inxsive - 2012-03-13 15:48

Wont happen. Too many cabinet members will hang

  • nkulekweni - 2012-03-13 15:14

Greedy Savages. Just curious...Did they ask him who the second son of god is? And does no god in contemporary myth have a daughter?

  • E=MC2 - 2012-03-13 15:38

  • inxsive - 2012-03-13 15:47

  • leigh.paikin - 2012-03-13 16:01

  • Valma - 2012-03-13 16:35

gee they wasted the taxpayers money for the trial - they were all guilty as hell - we have choices in life - they chose the road to hell. Bring back the death penalty

  • Fifles - 2012-03-14 10:58

Thank GoD!!! its about time!! have waited 4 almost 4years for them to be sentenced! They took away a wonderful soul, Mrs Lotter was a great teacher & she wud never ever hurt a fly, she was a woman who did not like raising her voice! I'll never forget that day when we were called down to assembly & our principal announced to the whole school that Mrs Lotter was murdered in her own home with her husband! As an old Grosvenor girl student I say they must ROT IN PRISON!!! REST IN PEACE MRS LOTTER. WE MISS U AND LOVE U STILL!
