Lotto millions winner could lose out

2012-06-12 14:33

Johannesburg - A jackpot prize worth R1.364m was on the brink of expiring if not claimed by Thursday, national lottery operator Gidani said on Tuesday.

Spokesperson Thembi Tulwana said two lucky players' tickets matched the winning numbers last year - 4,5,9,10,15 and 25 of draw 1 093.

Tulwana said one of the winners had not come forward to claim the winnings. This ticket was bought in Randburg.

She said players had 365 days after a winning draw to claim their winnings, and with 2012 being a leap year the last day to claim was June 14.

Was it on the brink, or is it on the brink of expiring? Oh come on, check your wording! For crying out loud, you're writing for a news centre! - 2012-06-12 16:50

Why there have to be an expiry date give the poor people a chance to claim their money even if it can be after 10 years or trace the winner's whereabouts

  • eric.martinsich - 2012-06-12 15:37

ok lotto ,ask your participants to vote for a charity and give to this charity. please remove your soccer teams and the cANCer youth league from the top of your list as they are not deserving organisations.

"Was" June 14th........don't you mean "IS" June 14th. You should apply for a refund of your school fees as you obviously never paid attention in class!

Funny. The basis of my numbers (5,9,10 & 15) is there. I somethings just change the other numbers. What is also scary is that it is one of the place that I sometimes stay in SA. I am quite sure I was not in Randburg at that time. I am also very careful with my tickets. I will kick myself if it was. What happened to me once was that a machine at the shop on the corner of John Voster and Christian de Wett(or something)red my ticket as a none winner, but when visiting Paarl a week later I had the same and only ticket still in my wallet and thought of re-scanning it and surprise surprise a small, but handsome amount pop out. Strange. Maybe some-one in Randburg had the same problem in the same that it is a laughing matter)
