Cape Town - Musician Lucky Shabangu found himself back in the dock of the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, this time for allegedly stealing a television.

He gave a charming smile as he entered courtroom 15 in his leather jacket, jeans, smart sneakers and handcuffs. The '90s RnB singer winked at someone sitting in the public benches and was eloquent when representing himself during a bail application.

Luck was on his side when he was granted R10 000 bail, but there were conditions attached. He would only be able to leave his Sunninghill home in Johannesburg for work and religious purposes. Sandton police would be monitoring his movements.

The court heard that the SAMA-winning Twins band member was considering entering a plea agreement with the State.

The matter was postponed until July 3 for plea negotiations. Shabangu again flashed smiles at journalists as he was led out to pay bail.

It is alleged that he was discovered leaving a women’s Sea Point flat with her television. The State alleges that he threw the television at her and ran away, but was later positively identified.

Just a month ago, Shabangu and a co-accused came under the spotlight for allegedly stealing a Porsche. Charges were later dropped.
