Johannesburg - Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has been asked to look into the conduct of the ministerially-appointed board which was appointed to investigate the Gupta plane scandal.

Madonsela was asked by an airforce official, Lieutenant Colonel Christine Anderson,  who was implicated in the scandal, Eyewitness News reported on Friday.

A massive government probe was launched into the landing of a private plane at the Waterkloof Air Base in Gauteng in April. The aircraft was carrying 270 guests to a Gupta family wedding.

The investigation exonerated President Jacob Zuma and his ministers, and found that the landing was the result of "collusion by officials" for whom swift action was recommended.

Now, Anderson has gone to the public protector because she feels that the process of the government probe was "irregular".

The SANDF has declined to comment on Anderson’s complaint, EWN reported.

Meanwhile, Madonsela’s office confirmed earlier this week that Madonsela had nearly completed an evaluation on whether to probe the scandal.

The department’s Oupa Segalwe said Madonsela had interviewed two of the three people she identified as necessary to determine whether to investigate the scandal.
