Johannesburg - Economic Freedom Fighters President Julius Malema wants the International Criminal Court (ICC) to prosecute Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa for his role in the Marikana violence.

“Ramaphosa, ugly as he is, he deserves justice as well,” he told reporters on Thursday.

He called for a complete transformation of the ICC before discussing the court’s future.

“We want a complete overhaul of the ICC. It must not be voluntarily. It must be compulsory for all states to be members.

“Then we know all these criminals from the USA, from Israel, from Britain, and everywhere else in the world. will be subjected to prosecution in the ICC.”

Malema believed if there were no such body, “we are going to have tyrants, dictators [and] murderers who are charging people”.

Such an organisation would have to be independent and not favour particular parties.

This, however, was an “ideal situation”as currently South Africa’s justice system was biased towards certain politicians.

Malema said the ICC could not claim to be an international organisation if major countries were not affiliated with it.
