Cape Town - A 46-year-old Mangaung man will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Thursday after he allegedly raped his 15-year-old stepdaughter on four separate occasions.

Police spokesperson constable Sinah Mpakane said the man was arrested on Tuesday after the girl reported the incidents to a teacher.

The first incident allegedly took place in December.

"The child did not report the matter to anyone as the suspect allegedly told her her mother is not going to believe her as she loved him more than her own children," Mpakane said.

"He raped her again later during the same month."

The man allegedly raped her again in June and on September 6 when the teenager's mother was not home.

"[On Tuesday], however, the victim decided to report the incidents to her life orientation teacher who then called the child’s mother. A case was opened and the suspect arrested," he said.
