Johannesburg - A man was killed when his car crashed into a truck on the N2 near Amanzimtoti in KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday, paramedics said.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha described it as a horror crash and said the wreck of the car was found next to the south-bound lane with the driver trapped inside.

Reports from the scene is that the car was travelling South bound on the N2 when the driver appeared to slump across the steering wheel veer across the centre median and smash into a truck travelling North bound.

"The man died due to the extensive injury that he sustained. Firemen used the Jaws of Life to free the body from the wreckage."

Botha said the truck driver was not injured.

Mr Roland....Every crash is of concern!!!We have thousands of people dying on our roads annually. Every crash reported could help in driving home the consequences of the generally poor attitude of SA drivers. If your really wnat to see whats happening on our roads go take a look at "gotcha" and "watchit" on the website wwwfatalmovesdotcom

He possibly could've had a heart attack behind the wheel. And it could've turned far uglier had he crashed onto a taxi or a bus. RIP man.

When it's your time to go... it's your time to go. You are absolutely correct though, this could have been a lot worse if a different vehicle had been involved. If eye witnesses are correct (which unfortunately they very seldom are) and he did seem to "slump over the steering wheel" before crashing then he more than likely did suffer some form of medical emergency resulting either in death or loss of conciousness. For the first time in a long time this sounds like a true accident, where for once no blame can be placed on a person because of bad driving, unroadworhty vehicles, etc. RIP to the person who died and thank goodness no one else was killed or seriously injured.

Shame man. "Slumped behind the wheel"... maybe he had a medical condition and it just hit him at the wrong time. RIP...
