Man dies after assault in Pietermaritzburg street

Pietermaritzburg - A case of murder has been opened after a 30-year-old man was killed on a street in Pietermaritzburg on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The man died after he was assaulted on the head in Langalibalele Street. It was not clear what object was used, KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thulani Zwane told News24.

Netcare 911 paramedics attended to the man on the scene, after he was found lying on the ground unresponsive, spokesperson Chris Botha said.

Paramedics attempted advanced life support resuscitation, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

No arrests have been made. A case of murder has been opened.
