Bloemfontein - One man died and another sustained moderate injuries when the bakkie they were in overturned on the R26 between Bethlehem and Reitz on Saturday.

ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said paramedics together with fire and rescue services arrived on scene and found the vehicle next to a bridge facing oncoming traffic.

“The driver of the vehicle, who was ejected, was found several metres away from the bakkie. The man, believed to be in his late 40's, was assessed by paramedics. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries. He sustained multiple severe injuries.

“The passenger, believed to be in his 50's, was assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries. He was treated and transported to the Phekolong Hospital in Bethlehem,” Bodasing said.

Authorities were on scene to investigate further.
