Why does it looks like weekends are the deadliest days than any other day of the week.

      John - 2013-01-27 17:59

Because people booze more on weekends?

I’m surprised to not read more stories like this. I despise driving in Jo’burg and Pretoria on main roads. You will literally drive and the next moment a taxi will just stop dead in the middle of the road. More than once I've had near misses like that and then the taxi driver looks at you as if you are the one at fault. Sometime I feel like having a dedicated vehicle for driving to and in metropolis. Something like an old F250 reinforced with steel railway tracks, barbed wire all around with iron spikes with a number plate that reads “Don’t stop”.

Stay 3 seconds or MORE behind and stay aware.

I'm certain that almost all drivers had near death experiences with Taxi's just stopping or just forcing their way in front of you

Condolences to family. I hope the taxi did not decide to stop in the road lane and cause the accident?

  • John - 2013-01-27 17:53

Was it speed that killed or a miscalculation of the man?

  • John - 2013-01-27 18:04

The car following must be aware and a safe 3 second distance behind. I hate tailgating arsecreepers!

I was wondering when this artical will apear I drive beyers naude a lot an the taxis just stop where and when they want to without even thinking about the vehicles behind them make an example from this careless taxi drivers and our death toll will decline.

These damm taxi drivers thinks the road belongs to them an no rules of the road applies to them. I know how it is on Beyers Naude road if they don't stoping in front of you they drive like idiots in the yellow lane even where there is slip ways. I will not evens start about JG Strydom road, but yet the fat ass metro cop will sit with camaras on the same stretch of road to see who is speeding.

Can't really judge on who's fault it was...if the taxi was standing in the road illegally, the law will take its course, thats all we need to worry about
