Man dies in Mahikeng robbery

Johannesburg - A man was stabbed to death and another seriously injured when their shop was robbed by four men near Mahikeng on Wednesday, North West police said.

A 45-year-old Bangladeshi national, Islam Bordroo, was stabbed in the chest, head and neck at the Siang tuck shop, in Signal Hill near Mahikeng, when he tried to fight off the four, Warrant Officer Sam Tselanyane said.

The other man of the same nationality, 20-year-old Shamim Mula, was hit with an iron rod on his head and back.

The four robbers entered the shop around 01:00, as the two were closing up, and forced them into a back room where they demanded money.

They ransacked the shop and stole R10 000 and cigarettes.

Police were still searching for the group.
