Johannesburg - A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death at his home in Rustenburg, North West police said on Sunday.

Captain Amanda Funani said the man and his wife were attacked on Saturday, at about 03:00, after he heard noise inside the house and went to investigate.

He then saw a man in the lounge.

"It is alleged that the suspect threatened the deceased and his wife with a knife. The deceased and the suspect started to fight.

"The suspect stabbed the deceased 10 times, he was taken to hospital where he later died."

His wife was also injured during the attack.

She said the intruder managed to flee the scene.

More pro-crime propaganda by news24. How do you "corner" a robber when you are not armed? Obviously the robber attacked and stabbed them out of a desire to kill not because he was "cornered" like you state giving the crim a sort of excuse. Are you people THIS desperate to let crims off the hook??

yip News 24 are really below par - quite amateur, read daily mail

Have they subsequently changed the article? I do not see the word, "corner", that you are referring to?

I am so sick of the senseless violence! There is not one day that goes by where there is not some report of a vicious attack, murder or rape. I am convinced that the victim was just an ordinary guy, only wishing to live his life in peace. He went to bed on Saturday night like any other, not for one second thinking that soon his life would be over, cut short because somewhere, some little bugger with a sense of entitlement decided to break into his house. RIP, you did not deserve to die like this.

our f**kin government has a stupid f**kin rule! if a criminal breaks in your house you cant hurt the bastard only if its life threatening! this government is a bloody JOKE!

      martinus.vanschalkwyk - 2012-08-26 23:16

Its kind of redundant in SA, because all robberies are life threatening! Those we may not name, don't break in because they're hungry, they break in to rape, torture and murder.

@ Leon - just don't phone the PIGS , you may well be charged with a crime. Best solution is to dispose of the garbage - I am more than happy to help out.

We so long past this feel sorry for the poor criminal,10 times...that is murder not defense...find someone in your home, do what you must, if that means kill him, then I'll do it without a 2nd thought.

The man's neighbors should have been alerted, gotten together as per the old American posse system, found the culprit, found a tree branch, or lamp post and strung him up. Wild west life style, wild west justice. The two go together. Very few people know that in the worst year of the wild west there were about 6 murders. That's because the killers knew their fate...No more three meals a day, hot shower and presidential pardons. BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY NOW

Our gun laws must be amended..innocent home owners die while criminals get away with murder!! ANC law makers WAKE UP !! If the cops can kill protesting miners why can't we shoot intruders ??

News24- Do you really need to display a graphic photograph of a bloodstained knife??

      sharon.truebodyvice - 2012-08-27 09:15

Yes that is reality, don`t sugarcoat murder

Another angle you might all have overlooked, the woman could have organised the hit to look like a robbery, so that she can claim insurance money. She was not killed in the attack and there is nothing saying she is in serious condition, and she has to tell the whole story as a sole survivor of the attack. I was just saying, it COULD have been I am not saying it was for sure.
