Johannesburg - A man was killed and seven others were injured in a collision on the N2 south near Scottburgh, KwaZulu Natal on Sunday, paramedics said.

ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said it was believed two cars first collided head on.

One of the vehicles spun out of contol and crashed into a bus that was travelling south.

"The driver of one of the cars sustained fatal injuries...and the fire department used the jaws of life to remove him from the wreckage," Jackson said.

Four other passengers in the same car sustained moderate injuries, while the three travelling in the other car were treated at a nearby hospital.

The 95 passengers from the bus were not injured.
