Man held for Hazyview murder

2012-04-11 20:41

Johannesburg - A man was arrested in Hazyview on Wednesday after he allegedly shot and killed a man while robbing his house, Mpumalanga police said.

Lieutenant Colonel Leonard Hlathi said the 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder of Loderick Foxon, 43.

Two men tied up Foxon and his wife with cable ties while they ransacked their house on Tuesday night. Foxon managed to untie himself and grabbed one of the robbers, but was shot dead.

Police were still searching for the second man who fled the scene.

"We are following all possible leads for a second arrest," Hlathi said.

The arrested man faces charges of murder and house robbery.

He will appear in the White River Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Bring them to the people we will take them down slowly but surely.

  • Brett - 2012-04-11 21:09

Another black on white racist hate crime.

      Rob - 2012-04-12 10:01

Thats it Brett. It is what it is. It is about Black on White killings. If a minority uses the K word to a majority, its the end of the world & all hell breaks loose. Yet when Blacks murder whites in the name of crime, its....crime knows no colour etc, etc....Pathetic.

But, our president says our country is safe ...

      Blessing - 2012-04-12 11:30

Ladies and gentlemen, even if we get a president from the moon, such unerthical activities will always be there. Even the US which tops the first world countries says the country is safe but they record 17000 murders a year + kidnappings. As a nation, lets not look upon the president for everything. Lets try empower ourselves and fight the crime, otherwise we will all be wiped out still crying "but the president said the country is safe"

Wat is dit anders as rasse moord? O ja, die gewone storie van 'normal crime'. Vertel dit vir die man op die maan.

It doesn't matter the colour of the robbers skin or the colour of the peoples who's house they broke into. What matters is justice is found for the innocent and the guilty pay for there crimes

  • Shantelle Klaasen - 2012-04-11 21:49

Actually, no. David or Dave Foxon was his name and his wife (my sister) was not tied up. He was shot twice in the head as his 2 children and wife looked on. Also the guy that was arrested was the accomplice and not the killer. He is still at large. Just so that the public has an accurate account of what's going on....

      eddiebant - 2012-04-11 22:03

Thanks Shantelle.Always good to know the truth. My condolences to the family.

      Koos - 2012-04-11 22:58

The SAPS don't tell the truth. They hide the facts from the whites to make them think it is normal crime, BS.

      Bokfan - 2012-04-11 23:10

My condolences Shantelle, to you, his wife and children. Please try not to let the foolish comments, from all sides, on this tragedy distract you from the truth. Your brother in law died for the insanity that this country has produced through the our combined failure to bring humanity to this place. Please accept my deepest sorrow at having failed him in my personal efforts to make enough of a difference. In his name I commit myself again never to stop trying to make Mzansi a better place for all those working for a healed nation.

      Rob - 2012-04-12 10:06

Bokfan....Yours is the most pathetic comment for many a day. " Died for the insanity that this country has produced. " Time to face reality.

"Koos - April 11, 2012 at 22:58 Report comment The SAPS don't tell the truth. They hide the facts from the whites to make them think it is normal crime, BS." Probably the police officer who attended to the scene was a white policeman!!!!!

Wish they could apply some 'enhanced interogation methods' on him. Not only to extract information on the whereabouts of the other one but to teach him a lesson aswell. Too bad it's not in the constitution...

      Koos - 2012-04-12 01:11

Some people are just to dumb to be taught anything.

      Irma - 2012-04-14 17:11

If I applied those methods to you I'd have to confessing to various crimes and naming accomplices in no time, even though you'd committed no crime and nor had those 'accomplices'. Be glad the police are not allowed to do whatever they want to get you to confess.

  • Chumscrubber1 - 2012-04-12 06:37

I'm amazed an arrest has been made. The Hazyview police station is rotten to the core, and under emergency management. They never make any arrests - this is a good sign, maybe things will improve now. The perps were probably SAPS, a lot of crimes in the area have SAPS methods written all over them - cable ties, type of firearms - and a complete lack of interest in investigating them.

A Firestone around the neck of a criminal is a law all by itself.

  • henk.theron - 2012-04-12 09:13

Heart breaking. Another taxpayer slain. Maybe the anc will react when they realise that their tax base is being eroded by all these killings. Somebody should enlighten Gordan about what is happening.
