Johannesburg - A man was arrested when he allegedly obtained a bribe to install a pre-paid electricity meter in Eldorado Park on Friday, Johannesburg metro police said.

Police spokesperson Wayne Minnaar said the 33-year-old man employed by City Power demanded R1 000 from employees at a BP filling station, to fit the unit.

Police were called to the scene and the man was caught as he was taking the money.

He was arrested and is expected to appear in the Kliptown Magistrate's Court on Monday facing charges of corruption and bribery.
