Johannesburg - A man has been arrested for allegedly setting alight his house, where his sister also lived, in Kagiso, Krugersdorp, Gauteng police said on Monday.

Police arrived at the house after receiving a complaint on Sunday night, police spokesperson Solomon Sibiya said.

Initial information indicated that the man had set fire to the house after a disagreement with family members.

"The sister further led the police throughout the house showing them all the damaged property. While the police were inspecting the damages, the suspect confronted them to say he was the one who set the house on fire."

The damage to the house was estimated at R10 000.

The man would appear in court soon.
