Johannesburg - A man died after he was run over by a train at the Sarepta train station in Bellville, Cape Town on Tuesday, paramedics said.

He fell through the gap between two train carriages, landed on the tracks and had his right foot sliced off and left leg broken when the train rolled over him, ER24 spokesperson Andre Visser said.

He was airlifted to hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

I blame the guy for taking chances with his life and i blame metrorail for not increasing the amount of trains during peak times. this is so unnecessary.

While I agree with your comment. Metrorail are more than likely not to increase the amount of trains due to the 'community' burning the trains out every second week as they are upset about some or another thing- or they steal cables. So they in effect could have a 100 trains but with no cables = fail.

How exactly do you expect them to increase the number of trains when a minority group of imbeciles keep burning them down? Of course it is blantanly obvious that more trains are needed but since Metrorail are constantly having to pay to replace the carriages that are constantly being vandalised, increasing the number of trains is not going to happen. At the same time, must someone sit these people down and draw them a picture detailing the dangers of travelling on the train between the carriages, hang out the door, sitting on the roof, etc? This country seriously lacks common facking sense! Sad that this man lost his life, even sadder for the train driver who has had to go through this traumatic experience.
