Durban - A man accused of raping a jogger in Howick in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands is expected to appear in court on Friday.

The 25-year-old was arrested on Wednesday for raping the businesswoman while she was on her morning run on the Curry's Post Road at the weekend.

She had been down from Johannesburg, visiting her parents over the long weekend.

South African Community Action Network head Brian Jones said the woman had been tackled and pulled into a ditch, and raped at knifepoint.

Hidden by the long grass, the woman could hear and see the passing traffic during the attack.

Police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said the suspect was arrested on Wednesday after an around the clock investigation by the Howick Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.
