2012-12-20 12:24

Port Elizabeth - A man has died after he was run over by a train along Algoa Road in Uitenhage, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Naidu said on Wednesday the train driver noticed an obstruction on the tracks and tried to stop when he realised it could be a person lying there.

"The driver braked but could not stop immediately and the train came to a halt after hitting the object. The man died immediately," said Naidu.

She said it was believed that Mzwandile Dandashe, 44, was epileptic.

A case of culpable homicide was opened.

How is a train going to stop so quickly? This man did try and brake but it was not enough to slow down that amount of tonnage. Why is he getting culpable homicide charges?
