Man killed in Cape Town highway crash

Cape Town - A man was killed and six others seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling in lost control on the N1 near Bellville in Cape Town on Saturday afternoon.

The vehicle crashed into the barrier near the Jip de Jager offramp, said Cape Town traffic spokesperson Maxine Jordaan.

Officials closed the N1 inbound at the Durban Road offramp for at least an hour.

The scene was cleared and re-opened to traffic at 15:45.

Jordaan said another man, 40, was killed on Saturday in a head-on collision between two vehicles on Weltevreden Parkway in Mitchells Plain. Two others were slightly injured.
