Johannesburg - A man was killed in the west of Johannesburg on Friday morning when a truck crashed into his car, Gauteng paramedics said.

"The 18-wheel truck collided into the back of the BMW pushing it several meters," said ER24 in a statement.

The accident happened on the N1 towards Johannesburg near the Randfontein off-ramp.

"A paramedic from ER24 was travelling towards Johannesburg when he noticed a dust cloud in front of him. He explained that when the dust settled he noticed a truck and a light motor vehicle that collided with each other.

"Upon further investigation he found the driver of a BMW [believed to be in his 50s] with fatal injuries."

The truck driver was not injured.
