Pretoria - A man was killed when his vehicle crashed head-on with an 18-wheeler truck on Moloto Road near Pretoria on Tuesday, said paramedics.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the car had been "torn apart".

"Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the roadway... littered with accident debris and the wreckage of the car that had been torn apart," said Botha.

The driver of the car had died on impact, while the truck driver was unharmed.
