Johannesburg - A man shot dead his teenage girlfriend then turned the gun on himself near the Wolmarans Hospital in Wolmaransstad, North West police said on Tuesday.

Henkie May, 21, shot dead his 17-year-old girlfriend at about 20:00 on Monday, said Captain Adle Myburgh. He then killed himself.

She said their bodies were found in a vehicle parked in a field.

"It is alleged that the two were involved in a relationship and had an argument prior to the incident."

Police were investigating, Myburgh said.

Selfish and tragic! Why kill someone else just because you are tired of living?

      Nosiphom - 2012-04-03 16:27

Exactly Shirley - the bugger should have left the girl alone and taken his own life, far from the poor girl!

This is a sure sign of the desperation in ordinary peoples lives in SA caused by a dysfunctional government where everyone's (except those on the gravy train!) future outlook and safety is bleak. Added to this is the unbridled corruption, non-service delivery and police brutality in the country.

This has nothing to do with the government. Don't piss all over the memory of some poor innocent girl by dragging your own issues into the mix.

Fortunately I do not agree, not everything in life can be blamed on the government, corruption and so forth. If it was that easy, none of us would still be here. And by saying that you are also taking the easy way out. True, things are getting out of hand, but you are still responsible for your own life, and can not blame the government or anybody else for your failures!!

      Mis - 2012-04-03 16:26

Andre!Andre! how you managed to pin a love affair gone wrong to the government really amazes me. did the governmnet force them into this relationship?

      Ari - 2012-04-03 16:35

You will be blaming the government for the bad weather next . . .

If the car was found in a field, how do they know they had an argument before the unfortunate shooting? I mean, what if they planned it (ala Romeo and Juliet)? Unless they have an eye witness testimony, we can't rule that out as a possibility. I mean, the guy is old enough to be in varsity/college and I presume the girl was in high school. Could it be far fetched to think maybe the girls parents weren't too found of this relationship and told her to end it?

      Steven - 2012-04-03 16:26

Just to clear up my statement, in no way am I trying to exonerate the guy nor downplay the crime. No offence meant to any of the bereaved, but we can't just say, the guy shot her them himself what a bastard, without knowing the circumstances that led to the incident, may both their souls rest in peace.

Facts are wrong. He was 22 she, they were found at the landing strip and it happend. At 6.... I was there. Both friends of mine... The argument alleggation was probably wrong and it should have said suposedly. And not made out te be a fact....

A very stupid boy indeed!!!! Doesnt he know that there are still plenty of girls out there? On top of that 17 years old teenagers cannot be considered to be matured, they are still trying to discover themselves,so they should be expected to make mistakes!!! Now this young moron lost his life because of someone`s!!!

What a selfish man and a selfish action. If you want to kill yourself, fine! Don't take an innocent life with you, that is just so sick! May the young lady RIP and condolences to her loved ones.
