Johannesburg - A man was injured on Sunday after he was reportedly pushed in front of a moving train at a station in Kraaifontein.

ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said the man fell on the tracks and sustained a deep cut on his head.

"It is still not precisely clear as to what took place... As soon as the bystanders saw what had happened, they shouted to the conductor and he managed to stop the train," said Jackson.

Paramedics treated the man on the scene before transporting him to the Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town.

In another incident, a woman was injured at the Unibell station in Belharon Sunday after allegedly trying to board a moving train, paramedics said.

"According to bystanders, the other occupants on the train had tried to assist the woman into the coach, but they lost their grip of [her] and she fell between the platform and the train," said Jackson.

She was hospitalised with suspected internal injuries.

@pierre.nortje.581 - Kraaifontein is in the Western Cape. The DA is the ruling party in the WC. There is ur answer!

Drive around the boom gates at a level crossing~ Run across the tracks between platforms~ Try to board a train that's already moving~ They may not rhyme but they're quite possibly~ I guess you know the rest.

The way I see it, the man was PUSHED (presumably by someone from behind" instead of trying to board the moving train. And years ago we had to attend to a man sitting between two sets of tracks in Umbilo, Durban, after the idiot tried to board the moving train, but in the process lost his footing and handhold and landed with his leg under a wheel - the bloody idiot was drunk... No political party could be blamed for accidents like these - the victims have only themselves to blame, as you cannot lose the fight against a train either on foot or in a car. There is such a thing as STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, and lastly, you WILL lose every argument against these behemoths, regardless of whether you live in the Western Cape or out in the sticks in Limpopo...
