Man shot dead in Eastern Cape

Johannesburg - A man has been shot dead in Qolorha, Butterworth, Eastern Cape police said on Friday.

The man, 27, was out with friends around 02:00 on Thursday when he received a telephone call, Police spokesperson Jackson Manatha said.

"The deceased went outside to answer his phone and was followed by a woman who was part of the group he was enjoying himself with."

While outside, the man was shot in his upper body and died on the scene.

The woman was also shot, but survived.

She was taken to hospital, said Manatha.

The police had opened cases of murder and attempted murder.

No arrests had been made.
