Johannesburg - A man was stabbed to death in Ngqamakhwe near King Wiliams's Town, Eastern Cape police said on Saturday.

Captain Jackson Manatha said Phikolomzi Ndandani, 19, was stabbed on Friday.

"The deceased was stabbed several times on his upper body on Friday...

Police believe the motive for the murder was revenge as it is alleged the deceased had earlier assaulted the younger brother of the deceased."

He said Ndandani died at the crime scene.

"The murder was reported to the Ngqamakhwe police who acted swiftly by arresting the 26-year-old suspect."

He has been charged with murder and would appear in the Ngqamakhwe Magistrate's Court on Monday.
