Cape Town - A 27-year-old man was found stoned to death on OR Tambo Street in Mandela Park, Hout Bay, Western Cape police said on Friday.

The man was killed around 23:00 on Thursday night, said Lieutenant Colonel Andrè Traut.

No arrests had been made and the murder was being investigated.

There was believed to be a growing gang culture in the Hout Bay area.

Extra police resources were sent to the Imizamo Yethu informal settlement after seven people were arrested for public violence on Monday night.

On Tuesday, the South African National Civic Organisation led residents through the streets in an anti-crime march.

Earlier this month, a 20-year-old man was stabbed to death in Imizamo Yethu. The man and a friend were at home in S Biko Street, when three suspects forced their way into the house, the People's Post reported.

Earlier this month, police arrested a 32-year-old man for shooting and injuring another man outside his house in Petersen Street, Imizamo Yethu.
