Man surrenders after Soweto murder

2012-07-18 16:20

Johannesburg - A man has handed himself over following a murder at the Meadowlands hostel in Soweto, police said on Wednesday.

The 25-year-old surrendered on Tuesday following the stabbing death of a 30-year-old man on 8 July, Constable Sibusiso Chauke said.

The argument broke out between two men when the victim tried to intervene during a maskandi (Zulu traditional music) event in the hostel.

"The suspect [said he] left the hall and came back with the knife and stabbed the man."

Chauke said it was not clear what the argument was about. The man would appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Thursday.

The suspect [said he] left the hall and came back with the knife and stabbed the man." Well thats premeditated. Whats wrong with these idiots that they cant resort to using their fists or feet in a good old fashioned fight. Always the urge to maim or kill via a knife or gun.
