Johannesburg - A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with house robberies and the alleged possession of illegal firearms in Mankweng, Limpopo police said on Saturday.

Constable Moses Molepo said police arrested the man for a house robbery on Friday at about 03:00 at the RDP section of Jane Furse, a town in the Sekhukhune District Municipality.

"Further investigations led to discovery of two pistols and one rifle with their serial numbers erased," said Molepo.

Police believe the man was also involved in similar robbery cases in Jane Furse.

"So far he has been positively linked to one case of house robbery in Ga Molepo, Tshebela where a Pakistan national was robbed money at gunpoint during trade hours last week," Molepo said.

Further investigations were underway to link the man to other cases in Mankweng, Jane Furse and surrounding areas.

The man would appear in the Mankweng Magistrates' Court on Monday on charges of house robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
