Cape Town - A man will appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court for allegedly abducting and raping a teenage girl, Western Cape police said on Friday.

Captain Frederick van Wyk said the 45-year-old man's court appearance on Monday follows his arrest in Du Noon, Milnerton, on Wednesday.

He allegedly forced a 16-year-old girl from Nqamakhwe in the Eastern Cape to marry him on 1 June this year.

She was then brought back to his Cape Town home where she was held against her will and regularly forced to have sex with him, Van Wyk said.

The girl fell ill last Thursday and persuaded the man to take her to a local clinic, where she managed to tell the nurse what happened.

The nurse informed police, who traced the man back to his home.
