Mandela Centre of Memory gets new CEO

Cape Town - The Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory on Wednesday appointed Sello Hatang as its new chief executive officer.

Hatang is currently the head of outreach and communications at the organisation, and played a similar role at the South African Human Rights Commission, the Centre of Memory said in a statement.

"He was previously director of the South African History Archive (SAHA) at Wits University and continues to serve on its board," the statement said.

Hatang is due to start in his new post 1 June 2013, succeeding the current CEO Achmat Dangor who is due to retire at the end of June.

The organisation's acting chaiirperson Njabulo Ndebele thanked Dangor for his "sterling 7 years of service and wish him well into the future".
