Johannesburg - Former president Nelson Mandela has spent his first night at his Johannesburg home since he left hospital after nearly three months of treatment there.

There were no official updates on Monday on the condition of the 95-year-old former president, after he was transported to his home in an ambulance on Sunday.

In announcing Mandela's discharge, the presidency said Mandela remains in a critical and sometimes unstable condition.

The statement also said Mandela will receive the same level of intensive care that he did in the hospital, administered by the same doctors.

The presidency did not rule out another hospital visit, saying if Mandela's health warrants another admission to hospital in the future, this will be done.
