Durban - Four armed men set fire to a shop owner's arm during a robbery in Greytown, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

They entered the premises on Durban Road, held the shop owner at gunpoint and demanded cash on Thursday at 11:30, Colonel Jay Naicker said.

"It is further alleged that the suspects doused petrol over the victim's arm and set him alight, forcing him to disclose where the money was kept."

The robbers took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene. No arrests were made.

  • TheRealDiffy - 2012-10-12 12:33

      kala.bafazi - 2012-10-12 12:39

  • peter.ndamase - 2012-10-12 12:37

You are rather safe when you give in than to refuse them your cash. You can replace money but not the hand.

But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction,Certainly, the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people who have set their hearts on getting rich have caused themselves a lot of grief.

      klasgoran.olsson - 2012-10-12 13:05

Yes you might be right, but even so. What gives the right to kill, to rob, to rap, to hijack etc etc....It is so sad to follow the situation in a South Africa that can be so wonderful..

      deon.louw.7505 - 2012-10-12 13:32

The love of quick money is a far worse evil. Many people work day in and day out for a steady income and nothing wrong with that. Criminals and tenderpreneurs wants to become rich overnight, they cause the biggest grief and have to be removed from society.

      donavan.philpott - 2012-10-12 20:43

People are out there trying to make a living actually, so your comments have no grounds what so ever regarding the above mentioned incident. when did it become a crime to work....i mean, really...!!!

  • sedeshan - 2012-10-12 13:51

Terrible to see the low value a human life has in SA to some people. Attempted murder, that's a fair charge for these thugs.
