Johannesburg – ANC general secretary Gwede Mantashe on Sunday dissolved the ANC Youth League's national task team after it delivered a successful congress.

“The NTT is now dissolved. The officials of the ANC youth league are now in charge. Don’t even consult the NTT. If you do then we believe that you are not confident  enough,” he told the gathering in Midrand.

However, he said a team would be formed to help the ANCYL.

“We have seen the mistakes the youth league made in the past that led to the tensions. We are not going to allow that to happen again,” said Mantashe.

The ANC established the task team after the party decided to dissolve the ANCYL's national executive committee in March 2013. The team's job was to re-establish the league's structures after former leader Julius Malema was expelled from the party in February 2012.
